Add trees to this grove

We wanted to dedicate a grove to represent our love, marriage, commitment and appreciation of nature. By doing this we are supporting not only reforestation of Scotland but also the future of many species today and long after we have gone. Like many, we originally met at work. Stephen interviewed Joan for her job at Scottish Power nearly 25 years ago and over time we became friends, indeed best friends. Although through the 25 years of our friendship, due to work and other commitments, we were barely in contact but the friendship remained strong and we supported each other through changes in our lives. We have loved each other for longer than we have been in a relationship and it was absolutely obvious that we would take this next step. We married because it is right, we are in love and want to continue to grow together and develop our relationship in a committed partnership. Why have I married Joan? “Because I love her and there is no one else on this planet I would rather be with. I want her to be secure in everything for the rest of her life.” Why have I married Stephen? “He is a lovely lovely person - both flawed and perfect in every way. He is the best thing that has happened to me and I love every bit of him and hope to make him happy for the rest of our time on the planet.” We married on 9 August 2014 and made these vows to each other: Stephen Joan I give you my love and my life. You are my lover, my friend and my soul mate. You give me everything I need to live and to grow and I want to be with you for the rest of my life. In fair weather or foul, in sickness and in health always in love and always caring for you forever. I give you my hand and my heart to keep and to care for. Paul and Michelle witness this love I have for Joan. Joan, marry me and love me. I forsake all others only for you. Joan Stephen, you are my friend, My lover, My soul mate. You give me the world, You make me a better person than I alone can be. On this day I give you my heart, My soul, My promise, That I will love you always, That I will cherish you always, That I will be by your side, Wherever our journey leads us. Living, learning, loving; Together, Devoted, Forever. Tradition suggests that each year of marriage is represented by a symbol. Paper represents the first year of marriage and it is fitting that we celebrate our first anniversary with the very source of paper.

The trees in this grove will be carefully planted in protected sites in the Scottish Highlands where they will create homes for wildlife and forests for the future.
