"Nothing in nature lives for itself. Rivers don't drink their own water. Trees don't eat their own fruit. Sun doesn't give heat for itself. Flowers don't spread fragrance for themselves. Living for others is the Rule of Nature." Thank you for giving so much Mandy X

In Mandy's own words, 'Bloody Hell' indeed, 30 Years! Mandy had a long a successful career in Social Work, but how lucky were Barnardo's, that Mandy chose us for most of it? Reading the reflections of her remarkable career over that time, I just think wow, hasn’t it been the most amazing journey?! Mandy clearly touched the life of so many people along the way from children, young people, families, foster carers, colleagues and friends. So many warm and fond memories shared and what a reputation. An individual who shared their zest for life, love of colour and the ability to show how it’s possible to work seriously and playfully, with a great sense of wit and humour to keep serenity within some challenging times. Someone who set the bar high, but got stuck in, Mandy was a clear guide and mentor for many. Mandy had a real passion for learning and her breadth and depth of knowledge and expertise is renowned and respected across Barnardo’s and externally across the field. Mandy didn’t want a big fuss to be made, but for an individual who has made such an impact on all our lives, we cannot allow the opportunity to pass. At the very least, we wanted to mark Mandy’s 30th year as part of the Barnardo’s family and say a massive and heartfelt Thank You on behalf of everyone! Mandy is a valued colleague and friend who will be remembered with much love and fondness. Where Mandy lives is surrounded by trees and with her love of gardening and the outdoors, we hope that this is a fitting tribute.
