Dundreggan is a 10,000 acre (4,000 hectare) estate situated in Glen Moriston that contains a remnant of the Caledonian Forest, and is particularly noted for its exceptional birch-juniper woodland. As such it is an important site for biological diversity in Scotland, and Trees for Life aims to enhance this through the restoration work we will carry out there in the coming years.
The taxonomic classification of organisms is constantly under revision as new understandings and insights into their relationships are discovered. The introduction of DNA analysis has intensified this process but proposed changes are not always universally adopted, leading to conflicting structures in use concurrently. The data in these lists conforms to that used on the National Biodiversity Network (NBN) Gateway at the time of production.
The lists have been compiled from records submitted by Trees for Life staff and volunteers, as well as local people, visitors and surveyors.
Trees for Life relies on the generous support of its members and donors.
