Save the North Pole is an annual Christmas campaign on climate change run by Peak District-based environmental group Little Green Space.

Father Christmas's North Pole home is under serious threat from global warming and climate change. Every year more of the continental ice shelf melts and the Arctic could be ice-free before 2020. A global temperature rise of just two degrees centigrade could see creatures including the polar bear and walrus lost forever.

We think it's time to give something back to Father Christmas by helping to stop the melt before it's too late for the North Pole and the rest of the world.

This Grove has been created with funds raised during the campaign's first year in 2008. Father Christmas visited Matlock, Derbyshire on 20 December 2008 wearing his traditional green costume and together with a team of polar bears and reindeer on a horse-drawn carriage kindly lent to him by the Red House Stables Working Carriage Museum in Darley Dale (pictured).

Little Green Space works to create rich and healthy habitats for people, wildlife and the environment, and carries out awareness and education work on environmental issues.
