Cicely was born in Nottinghamshire but lived most of her life in Fordingbridge in Hampshire. She had a wide range of interests, a very good sense of humour, and a love of travel.

She was passionately fond of animals, very concerned about the plight of all wild creatures and devoted to her own pets.

Her garden became her passion. It was always a mass of colour but areas were carefully set aside for wildlife. She loved trees and was able to plant several in her garden so it is a fitting tribute to have a grove dedicated to her memory and in celebration of her life.
