In memory of the father of my best friend. He was taken from her far too soon.
Thank-you Alexia for being a good friend to Mia these last years. She really needs someone to help her through this time. This is a beautiful tribute to your father. I am sure he would be very happy.

4 years ago I was lucky enough to meet an amazing young woman who showed me just how beautiful life can be. She lost her father at a tragically young age and this grove is a gift to her to remember the father she loved so much.
She is Chinese, and at springtime in China there is a celebration called Qingming, "Tomb Sweeping Day". People visit the tombs of their loved ones to clean them and bring them offerings to show reverence to those who have passed. It is also a day to celebrate the new life that spring brings. A beautiful combination of remembrance of those who have left us, and appreciation of all the life still ahead. A part of that celebration used to involve the planting of willow trees, to symbolise the new life and growth, so this grove of trees comes from that idea.
Alex, to you I say that your father would be so proud of the woman you are becoming. You are a beautiful person and I love you very much. These trees will grow strong with you throughout your life, and I hope we can walk through the forest one day together.
Mr Gao, I am sorry we never had a chance to meet, but I promise you that I will always be here for your daughter. I will support her in everything she does, I will protect her, I will be her friend and I will love her with all that I am so that you may rest in peace knowing that she is loved.
I will add to this grove each year when Qingming is celebrated. Should anyone else wish to contribute please feel welcome to do so.
