Responsible for leading and managing Trees for Life so it continues to be one of the most innovative and dynamic organisations involved in forest restoration and rewilding.

Doug Gilbert | Dundreggan Operations Manager

Doug Gilbert Dundreggan Operations Manager

Doug oversees the management of Dundreggan Conservation Estate. Planning new planting areas, implementing the Estate’s Deer and Forest Management Plans, liaising with visiting experts and contractors, and welcoming conservation volunteers to Dundreggan Lodge are all part of his job.

Alan McDonnell Conservation Manager

Alan is responsible for delivering our programme of major projects. These include all aspects of habitat and species recovery, plus other environmental initiatives, from concept to scoping, feasibility, delivery and review.

Colin Mackenzie-Blackman Fundraising and Marketing Manager

Colin is responsible for our communications and fundraising activity. He aims to ensure that individuals, communities and organisations are inspired to help the wild forest return to the Highlands.

Paul Greaves 'Skills for Rewilding' Training Programme Manager

Paul is responsible for the management of the Heritage Lottery Funded Skills for Rewilding project based at Dundreggan. He coordinates the training that’s giving fifteen people, over three years,  the chance to learn new skills in horticulture, forestry, community engagement and deer and estate management.

Allan Common Dundreggan Deer Manager

Allan is responsible for managing the deer at Dundreggan Conservation Estate. He also helps with conservation projects, construction and maintenance of buildings and equipment.

Jill Hodge | Dundreggan Project Co-ordinator

Jill Hodge Dundreggan Nursery Manager

Jill manages Dundreggan Tree Nursery. She also helps to organise tree planting and other volunteer tasks at Dundreggan, and meets groups of visitors who come to plant trees and hear about the work of Trees for Life.

Mick Drury | Field Projects Co-ordinator

Mick Drury Field Projects Coordinator

Mick is responsible for developing partnership work with landowners and managers in our Core Area. He organises work on the ground and monitors its success, including tasks accomplished through the Conservation Days programme. Mick also carries forward our projects on aspen and mountain woodland.

Fiona Holmes | Development Officer

Fiona Holmes Caledonian Pinewood Recovery Project Manager

Fiona is managing the 2-year ‘Caledonian Pinewood Recovery’ project. This project aims to understand Caledonian Pinewood remnants, both ecologically and with respect to future threats such as climate change, increase ecological management on Pinewoods in private ownership, and improve relationships between all parties that are involved in management of Pinewoods.

Tomas Loyante Barea  Finance Manager

Tomas is responsible for the financial stewardship of Trees for Life, working across all teams to ensure robust and transparent financial management. He forms part of the senior management team, working to deliver a sustainable growth strategy. Tomas manages the Finance and Administration Team.

Laura Miller  Office Coordinator

Laura is often the first point of contact for supporters, volunteers and members of the public. She oversees the general running of the office, including HR and Health & Safety, processes merchandise orders, grove and tree dedications, and liaises with suppliers and corporate partners.

Becky Priestley | Wildlife Officer

Becky Priestley Wildlife Officer

Becky runs our Red Squirrel Reintroduction Project. The majority of her time is spent carrying out habitat assessments, liaising with land owners and, most importantly, sourcing, catching and moving red squirrels to the northwest Highlands to establish new populations. Becky spends much of her time working with volunteers and local communities.

Sarah is responsible for submitting applications to charitable grants and trusts. Her role includes providing feedback to funders about how their donations are helping to restore the Caledonian Forest.

Chris Aldridge | Marketing and Communications Officer

Chris manages, plans and delivers all aspects of Trees for Life’s communications and marketing strategy. This includes engagement across our social media channels and co-ordinating all of our online and print communications, editing web content and monitoring traffic and engagement.

Alex looks after Trees for Life’s key corporate partnerships as part of the fundraising team, helping businesses large and small to contribute to nature and support Scotland’s wild forest.   

James | Development Officer

James Rainey Caledonian Pinewood Recovery Project Officer

James is working on the 2-year ‘Caledonian Pinewood Recovery’ project. He is devising, and then undertaking, a bespoke assessment methodology that will tell us about the ecological health and the resilience to future threats of the remaining Pinewood remnants. The assessments will then allow the project to suggest management options that landowners could implement to improve their Pinewoods.

Tom Gilpin | Conservation Week Co-ordinator

Tom Gilpin Conservation Week Coordinator

Tom is responsible for running our volunteer Conservation Week programme. His role is diverse and covers management of Conservation Week Leaders, maintenance of vehicles and tools, arranging accommodation and supplying food and tools, plus planning work sites, locations and tasks. 

Abbey Goff | Tree Nursery Assistant

Abbey Goff Dundreggan Nursery Supervisor

Abbey is responsible for the daily management of our Dundreggan Tree Nursery. She leads on all aspects of propagation, from sowing seeds through to planting out young trees in beds, and also works with groups on our volunteer Tree Nursery Weeks.


Emma Beckinsale  Seasonal Nursery Assistant

Emma assists Abbey in running our Tree Nursery at Dundreggan. She helps with all aspects of nursery work including aspen propagation, seed sowing, planting out young trees and much more! Emma also works with a variety of volunteers on the Nursery, including those that come on our Tree Nursery Weeks
Janet Barcis | Accounts Administrator

Janet Barcis Accounts Administrator

Janet takes care of all our day-to-day monetary transactions. She also organises our insurance requirements, including the equipment and buildings at our Dundreggan Conservation Estate and the Trees for Life vehicles.

Carol MacDonald | Administration Assistant

Carol MacDonald Office Administrator

Carol provides general admin and support for everyone in the office.  She works in reception, taking calls and greeting visitors, processing orders, corresponding with donors and maintaining our database. Carol is also the first point of contact for all Conservation Week bookings and volunteers on our Conservation Days.   

Sky Willmott | IT Consultant

Sky Willmott I.T. consultant

Sky provides ongoing I.T. support and development of our database and systems used in our office, as well as contributing work to our website.
