Our carbon offsetting service is here to help our corporate partners achieve CO2 neutrality and mitigate their impact on the planet. By offsetting your carbon in the wild Caledonian Forest, your business is also supporting a globally unique habitat.
Trees for Life works with corporate partners to offset carbon in two ways: through accredited offsetting (governed by the Woodland Carbon Code) and through tree planting (which is unaccredited). In both instances, our carbon offsetting partners are helping to restore and sustain a wild forest of global significance.
This product is currently offered to businesses only. If you are looking to mitigate your personal carbon impact, why not consider starting a personal grove of trees? Click here to find out more.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are a major contributor to climate change. When fossil fuels are burned, carbon that has been locked away for millions of years is released into the air, causing the Earth’s temperature to rise.
Since trees have a vital role in the balancing of CO2 and oxygen levels, widespread deforestation across the world has also had a negative impact by releasing more CO2 into the atmosphere.
Ideal for larger CO2e offsets
Scottish Carbon Offsetting accredited by the Woodland Carbon Code
Our accredited carbon offsetting site is located at our conservation estate, Dundreggan, and has the capacity to offset over 50,000 tonnes of CO2. This carefully planted site – containing over 250,000 new native trees which have been planted by 530 passionate volunteers – is validated and verified under the Woodland Carbon Code, the gold-standard for woodland carbon sequestration. The Code offers carbon credit buyers the assurance that each woodland scheme will deliver the benefits that we say it will, and that that woodland represents genuine new planting. Projects are certified to ISO standards by a UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited third party and an ongoing monitoring programme for the woodlands is agreed between the parties.

Great for small businesses
Carbon mitigation through tree planting
Offsetting through the Woodland Carbon Code is the best way to sequester carbon in an accredited way, but many of our partners prefer to take more direct action to mitigate their carbon impact. Planting trees in the wild Scottish Highlands is a great way to do this.
As a general rule of thumb, we calculate that four mature trees will offset one tonne of C02e. However, this can change depending on the species we are planting. This scheme is not accredited under the Woodland Carbon Code, but is a great way for small and medium sized businesses to address their carbon surpluses and make a difference to wild nature.
To calculate the number of trees you need to plant to mitigate your carbon impact, simply take your total tonnage and multiply by four. Your trees will be planted in a corporate grove.
