A Grove of trees in the Scottish Highlands
Diane's Grove
In memory of Diane Toop (née Barwick)
10 Feb 1954 – 2 October 2014

We miss you more than anyone knows,
With tender love and deep regret,
We who love you will never forget.

John Kilpatrick

That life is nothing but an endless stream
Of strange illusions, a waking dream
And hope is nothing without its fears
You could fill up an ocean with all these tears

Are we the rain, the river, the cloud and the sea
If we are like water then which drop is me
And what is time - the fast blink of an eye
A circle so vast that we think it’s a line.

...Your shadow flits from rock to rock.
Like a moth entwined by night.
And somewhere I hear you whispering,
"I'm heading for the light."

No footprints now along the shore.
No voices ringing clear.
No perfume drifting on the breeze,
But I know that you're still here.

This grove is dedicated to the memory of Diane a dearly beloved and inspirational wife and mother. She had an enthusiasm for environmental issues, healthy eating and travel but, although able to argue her beliefs forcefully, she was never an eco-warrior preferring instead to lead by example, living in tune with the cycle of nature and embracing everything the seasons brought. The strong moral compass which she possessed would be something we should all strive for. “In time with the sun, in sympathy with the season” Brian Redhead
