Trees for Life is hosting a series of summer workshops at Dundreggan. Want to learn about the Gaelic language, lore and culture of Scotland's native forests or what edible and medicinal plants you can sustainably harvest locally? Or an introduction to eco-therapy?

Workshops will be led Alasdair Taylor, who runs a social enterprise dedicated to environmental education and ecotherapy.

Booking is essential and places are limited, with part of the proceeds donated to Trees for Life. 

Gaelic in the Landscape

Native language, lore and culture in Scotland's native forests 

A journey into reading, understanding and deepening relationship with mountains, meadows, rivers, waterfalls, standing stones and hollow hills: shape, texture, colour, wildlife and mythology come to life through a Gaelic-themed course suitable for anyone from absolute beginners to native speakers. Set in a stunning location in the ancient Caledonian Forest, itself stepped in ancient Gaelic lore.

Duration: 2 days. Participants can attend one or both days.
Dates: 1-2 August 2015
Cost: Public £35/day; Trees for Life members £25/day; Dormitory accommodation at Dundreggan £15/night.
 

Edible and Medicinal Plants

Food and medicine from Scotland's native forests
The ancient Caledonian Forest is a well-known haven for wildlife, but also offers humans a substantial source of natural food and medicine. You can learn to safely and sustainably harvest native wild plants to make delicious meals and simple but effective tonics and remedies for your own good health! All ingredients and materials provided.

Duration:  2 days (Day 1: Food, Day 2: Medicine). Participants can attend one or both days.
Dates: 15-16 August 2015
Cost: Public £35/day; Trees for Life members £25/day; Dormitory accommodation at Dundreggan £15/night.
 

Woodlands for Well-Being: An Introduction to Ecotherapy

Woodland conservation work for improving mental health
Green spaces and the outdoors are increasingly viewed as valuable assets for the treatment of mental illness and the maintenance of good mental health. Discover how quickly and effectively therapeutic interventions can be made in the context of 'nature connection' and environmental conservation work. This course is suitable for clients, practitioners and managers of mental health services. Includes food and dormitory accommodation.

Duration: 3 days. Participants have option of attending one day only.
Dates: 22-24 August 2015
Cost: Public £200 full course or £100/day residential, £160 full course or £80/day non-residential.
