Dear Tony, I'm having one of those days where grief jumps out from wherever it was hiding and there's no running away from it. I miss you. As I cooked dinner, I wondered something I have often wondered about you, which is what it might have been like to work for you. A fair, calm, hard working and generous boss is a rare thing and I'm sure you must have been all of those things and more. In other news, we have bought a little Acer tree for the garden but have no idea where to plant it. You would have known. Most importantly, I want to ask you when Martha and Joseph will learn to tidy the bathroom sink after brushing their teeth! They do dry their toothbrushes before putting them away but they seem to never notice the state of the sink or the fact the soap is swimming is a pool or water in the soap dish! Mostly I miss your hand on my shoulder and your warm cheek when we hugged. Love Lucy

Dear Tony, We are hopefully coming to the end of Lockdown 3. I know you would have been stoical about any lockdowns. You were always self sufficient and happy pottering around the house. I have tried to channel your outlook during this time. I still don't know how you didn't snack when at home all day! You had great will power that I will always be in awe of. There are signs that spring is on the way but it is still cold. I am reminded of the cold house growing up and the fact that you wouldn't put the heating on. I am the same now that I am the one paying the bills! How much we learn as we get older and how sad I am that I can't laugh with you about it. Much love to you, Tony. Dear Tony, It's been a long year without you. Although I miss you terribly, I'm glad you didnt have to live through the craziness that has been 2020. We talk about you often, Joseph especially. Here's something that made me smile this year: in the summer, Joseph was on the pebbles of the beach looking out to sea, standing in a pose that looked just like you. It was a lovely moment of recognition and made me remember you are never far from us. I am buying some trees in your grove as a christmas gift to my class. Love Lucy
