The Gorilla Grove

2020 has been a tough year for everyone but I believe it has also given people the opportunity to assess and rebalance what they believe to be the most important parts of their life's. This was certainly the case for me as 2020 was shaping up to be a very exciting year for me and my partner!   We are two proud Scots living and working in London and were very much indoctrinated in the Work Eat Sleep Repeat life of the UK capital. Lock down gave me the opportunity to see I needed to make more time for my family, friends and generally be more fun!   Staying with my in-laws during lock down I started to cook outdoors on their BBQ and I loved it. This was for three main reasons: 1. There is something innately primal about cooking outdoors using fire and the cave man deep within me was sparked into life! 2. My in-laws had a book about South African Braai which opened my eyes to the fact that BBQs are not just for cooking burgers and sausages! 3. Cooking outside is very social. You are unlikely to grab a beer and sit down in the kitchen and talk to your partner whilst they are making a tuna pasta bake at 100 miles an hour! Start cooking outdoors and suddenly its a different story (weather dependent obviously).   I started an Instagram account called 'The BBQ Gorilla' as I am quite large, hairy and now into BBQ. I was never one to read or even listen to anyone who had a blog previously but I have genuinely really enjoyed it so far. It has given me the opportunity to speak to people from all over the BBQ world who offer help and advice, which has been great!   Another passion of mine is the great outdoors and I love Scotland and its wilderness. So I decided to set up the Gorilla Grove with Trees for Life so as my passion for BBQ grows so does my positive impact on our environment.
