These trees are planted to celebrate the 100th birthday of Mary Aitchison. Mary was born Mary Mackinnon in Fife on 22nd March 1921, the second child of Matthew and Agnes, and sister to Margaret, Matthew and Anna. After serving with the Intelligence Service in World War 2 she married Robert and together they had three children, Iain, Anne and Ruth. They also have six grandchildren, Jayne, Pete, Kathy, Rosie, Michael and Katy and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Emmie. From raising her children and her work with the health service, to travelling the world and becoming a published author, it has been an incredible 100 years with so many stories to tell. Much as we would love to be there, we cannot be together to celebrate this most special of birthdays but instead we are sending a gift that will last for another hundred years and more.
