This tree is being donated in honour of the newest addition to our friendship circle Dawid Johannes Malan IV. May his tree grow freely like him and may the roots of his life be firm, solid and in one with the earth. May the represent his personal development his uniqueness and his strength. Just as the branches of the tree strengthen and grow upwards to the sky may he grow stronger, striving for greater knowledge, wisdom and new experiences as he moves through his life.

Planting this tree honours a lady who was beautiful inside and out. Julie Lyon was a kind and thoughtful person who was an inspiration to many. She loved nature and the outdoors. When teaching, Julie spent a lot of time outdoors with her class, helping the next generation to appreciate and learn more about nature. Julie gave up her time to support the Aberdeen Branch of Early Education and was always willing to help others. Julie’s family stand tall and proud today because of the love and light she brought into their lives. ‘When we plant trees, we plant the seeds of peace and seeds of hope’ – Wangari Maathai February 2023
