As owner of Guided Tours of Scotland I have been providing private tours for couples, families and small groups of independent travellers since 2009 and during that time I have become increasingly aware of my carbon footprint as a self-employed tour guide. With that in mind, and on the eve of the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, I decided to support Trees For Life's fantastic rewilding programme by planting a tree for every tour day. In addition to mitigating against my carbon footprint I see this as an ideal way to put something back into the landscape that I love to show off to my clients. Scotland's ancient Caledonian forests once covered 80% of the land but today that figure is closer to 5% so it is imperative that we do all we can to restore our wild areas with native trees to encourage greater biodiversity and help our endangered species, as well as in the fight against climate change. I encourage all of my customers to consider buying a tree or two, or to make a donation to this extremely worthwhile cause which is very close to my heart. Greg Kain www.guidedtoursofscotland.com

Through the Loch Lomond National Park, Rannoch Moor, Glen Coe to Fort William, where the family took the Jacobite Express steam train (aka the Hogwarts Express), to Mallaig and back. Our route back took us through the Cairngorms National Park with the obligatory stop in Pitlochry for fish and chips. Great fun, thanks very much guys.
