My maternal grandfather, Vasil Ivanovich Belous (1925-2013), was a professor of agricultural studies in Ukraine and specialised in forestry. He spent his years studying and nurturing trees (as well as bees, and Ukrainian culture, and who knows what else). I would like to honour his memory with a grove of newly-planted trees in the Scottish Highlands to help nurture the local ecosystem, as a tribute to his life and work.
