Uncle Bobby as we have known him since about 1964. He married my mom’s sister Aunt Dianne. He was a outstanding high school wrestler at Wakefield HS and his co-captain was (Senator) Paul Wellstone. He was what we thought cool looked like back then. He drove a Corvair Spyder. Once we went to his folk’s house to ride a horse that was for my cousins. That mean thing threw me and as my foot was stuck in the stirrups. It then proceeded to drag me across and open ground level well. I did not fall in. Over the year we talked at family reunions, gatherings, events and after my mom passed, we still made it a point to visit as he/they are/were family. My Aunt and Uncle have a beach house and we have stayed there at their invite. Once he heard Rush Limbaugh say I was a “National Hero” on that radio show and he called me to let me know that, “his liberal nephew had moved up a step in his book!” It was not long ago that Kim and I stopped by their home and brought a pie and checked in to see how they were doing. Uncle Bobby the man who was married to my aunt for dang near 60 years…. You will be missed!

Suzie is another one of the ladies who married (a descended of the Pie King and Queen) who went to Murry High School Norfolk, VA, Clarance (C.P.) Copperthite. I met her and her lovely family while doing family research years ago. She had met the love of her life of 56 years at a bowling alley in Arizona where she had attended college and worked. Soon her and the B-52 pilot from Virginia were married. They had 3 children and Suzie talked about them with me and about her time as a military wife and about family history. She will be missed.

Howard Estell Cummins
September 22, 1926 - September 5, 2024
The best teacher I ever had. Did this doodle of him when he was my 11th grade English teacher. On my first long solo road trip on my way to check out a college I ran into Mr. Cummins at a rest stop. We had lunch together and he led me down the highway all the way to Appalachia where we stopped and parted ways and I never saw him again. Sent him Christmas cards over the years and used many of his words of wisdom he instilled in me that went way beyond High School English. You sir were a gift to the good in this world and will be missed!

Tony was a wrestling teammate at the University of Tennessee. He was second in the state of Georgia in High School. At Tennessee he amassed A 77-21-2 DUAL MEET RECORD and was on the team that finished 8th in the Nation. Always friendly he battled through his illness never complaining. He will always be remembered as a great guy! I took this picture at the annual team gathering after the season in 1981. Kim and I will miss him.

We are so sorry for the loss and Rob will be missed by many. We met in 1986 when he came to my office in search for information on our family’s history. We come from immigrants who fled the Potato Famine and oppression in Scotland to seek a better life in America. Rob is also a Great Great Grandson of the founders of the largest pie baking concern on the planet in 1885 The Connecticut-Copperthite Pie Baking Company of Georgetown, District of Columbia. Rob and his wife Powel came to several family gathers and events even serving pie at the Taste of Georgetown where proceeds go to feeding the homeless and those in need. Not too many years ago Rob unveiled a dedication plaque that marked the site of the first Fairfax County Fair and one of the finest racetracks in America in Burke, VA. Over the years we got to know each other well and became more than known cousins! He shall be missed!

We are so sorry for the loss!

The sister of a childhood friend. We have been in contact over the years at family gatherings, parties, and events. We are sorry for the loss and may you rest in peace. A photo I took sometime around 1981 at a Halloween Party.

We have known Richard since the early 1980’s as he and his wife were dear friends of my mom and Val. We attend many events and gatherings with Richard and Nancy and were honored that they attended our 35th Wedding Renewal and Celebration. In your honor and in friendship a tree will be planted in our family grove in Scotland. You will be deeply missed.
A tree will be planted in our family Grove in Scotland to honor Art. I met him through his good friend Dan McLeod after I went looking for one of the Pie Companies original delivery trucks. Art went out to California fetched it brought it back to Las Vegas and organized its restoration with the Henry Ford Museum, the SNMTC, and Gary Cooper. When I offered to reimburse him for his expenses he said, “no you could not afford me… when it is finished before it is returned to your family let me display it at my annual show to benefit a charity.” You will be remembered and missed sir!

We did not know you but if you were anything like your husband you were special and touched many people’s lives. You will be missed! Rest in Peace!

Datuk Ramesh Chander
The father of one of our closest friends recently passed. Besides sharing several of his families’ special moments, I also had the opportunity to work with him on a couple projects. Mr. Chander was Malaysia’s first Chief Statistician and was instrumental in the development of their New Economic Policy. He was later Statistical Adviser at the World Bank. Soon we will lift a glass of Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau and have a laugh and drink in your honor.
Rest In Peace.

Joe and my uncle were best friends since childhood in the 1930’s and he was a family friend. He worked for in the Senate and in the White House for President Johnson and for his service in the Navy he will join my uncle and aunt later this year when he will be interned at Arlington National Cemetery! Joe sent me pictures from travels he and his wire Rhea made over the years with my uncle and they have been archived for future generations. We dined together over the last few years to catch up on Washington, D.C. (the old days) and on family. We will miss him deeply.

May 10, 2023 AGE 90
(Just learned of her passing 9.12.2023)
I Only met MM O’Neil once and that was at her request when she was in her late 80’s. As she is family I always jump at the chance to learn more about our history and went to lunch with her at the Chevy Chase Country Club. We talked about our Irish and Scottish roots and family for some time before she made to me one of the strangest requests ever. As the matriarch of her side of the family, she was trying to hold on to and preserve what had been in the family since the 1880’s! I asked her if she was kidding when she asked for my help, she said, “she was not” and then I asked her, “where was she when I was starving my way through college eating food cooked on a flat-bottomed popcorn popper?” We both laughed! Ultimately before I could help, she was out maneuvered by “greed.” Rest In Peace MM O’Neil!

Passed peacefully this morning at 3:42 am (8.31.2023)
A former nun who left the church when she could not teach anymore, Sara met my dad who was going through AA and they were inseparable until his death 25 years ago. Sara was my father’s 3rd wife and she was not the fault my parents got divorced… in fact she may have saved my dad. She most certainly loved him and was a wonderful human being. When I was in college and needed a place to live, I ran into my dad at a funeral and he invited me to move in with them. Sara accepted me as family and though we have not seen her since Keely was looking at colleges, we have never stopped including her in our lives. We tried to visit her in Florida these past several days but weather and Covid prevented that. However, we were able to facetime with Sara and let her know that we loved her and that she will always be remembered. Keely told Sara, “She is her grandmother”.
Our thoughts and more than prayers are with you and we will never forget you, Sara.
Rest In Peace!

Margaret Jean Paseur
Can not say that we ever met Margaret but we have casually known her husband from the dog park for the past almost 5 years. If she is the better half (which we are sure she was) of Ray than she must have been the light of the world she revolved in. In their honor and her memory, a tree will be planted in our family grove in Scotland. Rest in Peace.

Relmond Hodges
This past weekend we lost a wonderful person who we met later in his life. He is a second cousin and we all share the family history of the largest pie baking concern on the planet. His family ran the Virginia Beach and Norfolk bakeries which were started at the turn of the last century! We are all descendants of Irish/Scottish immigrants who came to America for a better life, who served our country, and our communities, and became part of the fabric that makes the USA great. Relmond we will miss you “a man of exceptional character”… after all he was an Eagle Scout!
Rest in Peace!

We Love You Will Always Remember!
In The Garden Hymn
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
Refrain
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
Refrain
I'd stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
