ScotRail's involvement with Trees for Life began in May 2008 when we held our first ever Green Day at our Head Office in Glasgow. One of the ways we marked the event was to fund the planting of eight tree groves.
Later than year we funded a further 10 groves as a result of a second Green Day, this time led by teams working within our Operations functions right across Scotland.
Future initiatives will involve over 4,000 staff the length and breadth of Scotland. By working together we can play our part in helping to restore Scotland's Caledonian Forest and safeguard Scotland¹s precious natural landscape for future generations.
As Scotland's national rail operator we believe we have a responsibility to reduce our environmental impact. At the Prince of Wales environment summit in May 2008 we pledged to take action on climate change. Since then we have calculated and reported our carbon footprint, and set tough targets to reduce our emissions.
