Those who know Jimmy (some will know him as John!) will know he had a huge love of Nature. As close family members, we have decided to plant a grove of trees in memorial to Jimmy and in recognition of the deep connection he felt to the outdoors as a fisherman, hillwalker and appreciator of our beautiful Scottish scenery and wildlife. Although purchasing fancy flowers to place at the burial site is a traditional form of conveying condolences, Jimmy did not like the thought of living plants being cut and taken from their rightful spot in nature. With this in mind, we have purchased a grove in this conservation site which will initially plant 8 trees, but many more can be added. All are welcome to donate a tree to our grove in lieu of flowers if they wish. This means that our memorial to Jimmy will be a living and breathing one, with endless opportunity to grow. We feel that this contribution to nature through fostering a grove that will support so much life, is the perfect way to honour Jimmy’s own life. This gesture not only allows us to leave a lasting and meaningful memorial to Jimmy, but also helps to counter the global concern of deforestation and the displacement of wildlife, affording future generations the opportunity to connect to the great outdoors as much as Jimmy did.
