We are fundraising £25,000 to support our Missing Species Programme which is bringing back Scotland’s lost keystone animals – the architects of the wild. By restoring these species, we revive natural processes, boost biodiversity, build climate resilience, and inspire people to rediscover the wonder of a wilder Highland landscape.
Imagine lochs and burns thriving with fish, invertebrates and birds because beavers have created wetlands where once there was degraded dry ground.
Imagine a wild forest where elusive lynx are hiding, waiting to ambush deer to feed their young.
Imagine hiking through the Scottish Highlands and discovering a herd of tauros – the closest we have to auroch, the original wild cattle – quietly grazing on tough grasses and creating new habitat for insects and birds.
Imagine red squirrels darting through the tree canopy, their russet tails flashing between the branches, caching nuts that may become a seed source for a future forest.
This dream is now becoming reality in many parts of Europe. We need your help to raise £25,000 so we can take the next steps to make this happen in the Scottish Highlands. Now is a critical moment for wildlife reintroductions, and your generosity could help us return these vital Missing Species.
Whether we exceed our target, or don’t quite reach it, all donations will go directly towards our Missing Species programme, helping to return lost wildlife to the Scottish Highlands. Your support will be used across the programme, prioritised to areas where it will have the greatest impact for Scotland’s missing species.
