Caledonian Pinewoods Partnership Project Manager – Lead a partnership to restore Scotland’s iconic Caledonian pinewoods

Do you thrive on building partnerships that make a real difference for nature? Scotland’s Caledonian pinewoods are a globally-unique habitat and home to the nation’s tree, the Scots pine. Caledonian pinewoods once covered much of the Scottish Highlands but now less than 2% remains in scattered fragments. Many of these precious remnants are at risk, and we’re bringing together landowners, communities, NGOs, government agencies, and academics to secure their future. What you will do in a typical week:

  • Facilitate the development and delivery of a strategy and action plan for Caledonian pinewood restoration.
  • Build strong relationships across landowners, agencies, NGOs and funders to enable shared action.
  • Coordinate regular meetings of the Caledonian Pinewoods Partnership (CPP) steering group, wider membership and working groups.

  • Promote the CPP and its work through communications, events and policy engagement.
  • Represent the CPP at relevant external meetings, conferences and forums.
  • Support CPP members to develop their own aligned projects, funding bids and work programmes.
  • Visit pinewood locations and have the opportunity to see the benefits of the partnership on the ground.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The key to rewilding’s success is people. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive organisation, and recognise that some communities currently remain underrepresented in the environmental and conservation sector, including in the Scottish Highlands. We welcome applications from individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities, and those from underrepresented socioeconomic backgrounds. We are committed to proactively diversifying our sector, especially in leadership roles.

Just as biodiversity enhances ecosystems, diverse people enrich our sector and help us take bolder, more impactful action for nature. Rewilding is a shared journey, and together, we’re crafting a diverse, living landscape that supports communities and local livelihoods.
